The Case for Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson Being the New Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper When It Comes to Project Promotion

Whenever there is a project to promote in the entertainment industry, a time-honored way to “generate buzz” has always been to get people speculating whether or not the heteronormative (something Miley asserts she’s anything but) couple in question is together. And, if they’re not together, the second-best option is to incite the masses to constantly ask, “Will they or won’t they?”

In the case of Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson, the query becomes even more fascinating when taking into account the fact that Davidson is already spoken for by a certain Kim Kardashian (or at least one of her avatars). Just as Bradley Cooper was by his then-girlfriend, Irina Shayk. Because the two likely broke up, at least in part, because of how flagrant Cooper’s flirtations–whether genuine or part of staying “in character” for the media blitzkrieg–with Lady G were back in 2018-2019 during the peak of their promotion for A Star Is Born

Things reached a real crescendo during the 2019 Academy Awards when Gaga (who had just called off an engagement with Christian Carino) and Cooper performed the ever-vexing “Shallow” together. Although socially distanced (before they knew what that meant) throughout most of the song, by the end of the performance, Cooper approaches Gaga at the piano to sit down next to her real close, pressing his cheek to her cheek as they grossly sing, “In the sha-ha, sha-ha-llow/In the sha-ha-sha-la-la-la-llow/In the sha-ha, sha-ha-llow” and look as though they might rip each other’s clothes off right afterward. Sure, Gaga tried to write it off as the mark of Cooper being a “true friend,” but we all know that the When Harry Met Sally rule holds true: men and women can’t be friends. Unless he’s “Tony Bennett age” and she’s “Lady Gaga age.” And even then, there’s no guarantee that an old dog wouldn’t try to get down on it.

Not since has a “pairing” been able to make the masses question so much whether or not business has crossed over into pleasure. Well, until Miley and Pete came along to fill the tabloid (or “tabloid,” since nothing is tangible) void. To remind of their upcoming New Year’s Eve special, Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, the duo (that’s the specific word Miley is using) appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote the imminent airing of the variety show, as well as get the public acclimated to their presence together, that is, for those who may have forgotten they appeared in an SNL sketch from 2017 called “The Baby Step” (prompting them to, as mentioned in the interview with Fallon, get matching tattoos that said, “We Babies”–if that’s not romantic, what is?). Not to mention Miley being the musical guest back in May when Elon “Supervillain” Musk was the host

Although Miley, like Gaga, might be trying to play the angle that this is all part of the show biz spectacle (especially since she wants to pick up the Dolly mantle with her variety show steez), it takes a very brave woman (and usually a pop star) to “feign” a vampy flirtation with a man who is already attached. Especially to someone who can be as Regina George-esque behind that sugary-sweet persona as Kim Kardashian. As for Pete, he took Miley’s coquettish comments in stride, including her remark that he’s the “funniest, coolest, hunkiest guy in the world.” And even when she offered an earnest and sultry rendition of Yvonne Fair’s “It Should Have Been Me,” Davidson managed to not show any signs of a noticeable erection. Perhaps proving that weed is a lifesaver in every way for dulling the senses. Or perhaps skinny white bitches just don’t do it for Pete anymore after a taste of that Kardashian ass.

Anyway, it seems Miley is content to play up this “scandalous” angle at least through the New Year for the sake of ratings. And who knows? Maybe she’ll go so far as to even share a kiss at midnight with Davidson while Kim waits in the wings for their three-way to commence. All that’s really known for sure is Pete is very much living up to his Ken doll image in the photoshoot for his own “Break the Internet” issue of Paper back in 2019 (well after Kim posed for hers in 2014). Meant to be passed around from Barbie to Barbie and rubbed up against for their pleasure.
