Post-Death, David Bowie Continues to Prove There Is No More Perfect Love Than The One He Had With Iman

The love between David Bowie and Iman is the stuff of romance legend. After the two met at a dinner party (it’s the way celebrities meet apparently–see: Madonna and Guy Ritchie) in 1990, Bowie would later reflect, “That she would be my wife, in my head, was a done deal. I’d never gone after anything in my life with such passion in… I just knew she was the one.”

Officially married on June 6, 1992 in Florence, Italy (after a vows ceremony in April in Switzerland), Bowie and Iman’s intense love would continue to manifest over their twenty-four year marriage, whether in the form of candid or posed photos, charity collaborations together or envy-invoking quotes about one another.

With this in mind, it’s no great shock that Bowie would leave half of his Estate–100 million dollars–to the love of his life. Iman, just nine years younger than Bowie, will undoubtedly use the funds in a way Bowie would approve of–whether for her various business ventures, including Iman Cosmetics, or for their children, which he left the other half of his worth to. The touching final gesture is the ultimate testament to Bowie’s affection, as well as the kind of love one only thought possible in Nicholas Sparks novels. As Iman remarked on their years together the day before his death, “Sometimes you will never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory.”
