J. Lo and Iggy Azalea’s “Booty” Exhibits a Lackluster Attempt to Compete Against Nicki Minaj

It’s a sad affair when two white girls (Jennifer Lopez has, by this time, evolved into a white woman) make an attempt to have an ass-off with the great black beauty that is Nicki Minaj. But that is just what J. Lo and Iggy Azalea have attempted, unsuccessfully, to do. Not only is the song “Booty” itself an embarrassment, but the accompanying video shows Lopez and Azalea desperately trying to merge their asses together in order to transcend into Nicki Minaj.

It would be one thing if the lyrics to “Booty” could at least somehow measure up to “Anaconda” gems like “He toss my salad like his name Romaine.” Unfortunately, the overall weakness of the entire Lopez/Azalea package shines through with the repetition of “Big, big booty, what, you got a big booty.” It’s a rather unfitting homage to one of the greatest body parts on any mammal. And what’s most disappointing is that there was a time in the early 00s when J. Lo was the undisputed queen of the fat backside scene. But(t) with the advent of Nicki Minaj, it seems as though J. Lo has lost her will to adequately champion the benefits of a badonkadonk.

With a musical background that sounds faintly like a remix of “On the Floor,” the composition, too, lacks originality. It would be one thing if Lopez brought even one redeeming element to the table, however it appears she’s all too content to try to coast on lackluster lesbianic scenes with Azalea, who looks as though she agreed to this whole thing purely for cash.

What it all comes down to is that Minaj has a passion for ass that’s clearly unrivaled. Not since Sir Mix-A-Lot has any musician–rapper or otherwise–displayed such careful consideration for the beauty of the derrière. Thus, J. Lo and Iggy Azalea really needn’t bother.
